About the Workshop

The Northeast Workshop on Energy Policy and Environmental Economics will meet on Friday and Saturday, May 8th - 9th, 2026 at Boston College.

Our goal is to assemble a set of papers on a variety of topics, reflecting the latest advances in energy and environmental economics. We are particularly interested in papers that examine key policy-oriented energy and environmental issues through these lenses: public economics; development economics; health economics; industrial organization; and macroeconomics. The workshop plans to feature longer and shorter presentations. Graduate students or recent graduates may also propose short “egg timer” presentations (5-10 minutes), sketching out an area of current research and highlighting central findings.

This year’s workshop is organized by Edson Severnini and Rich Sweeney at Boston College, along with support from Joe Aldy (Harvard), Karen Clay (Carnegie Mellon), Ken Gillingham (Yale), Geoffrey Heal (Columbia), Erin Mansur (Dartmouth), Nick Sanders (Cornell), and Arthur van Benthem (Wharton). It is the latest in a series of Northeast Workshops that have been held at Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, and Yale.
